Parma is the 2020 Cultural Capital of Italy so we were lucky to see the city at its best on such a beautiful day. We visited the Duomo, every inch of which inside seems to be covered with frescoes or paintings, and looked at the Baptistry before walking round the centre – then back to the bus and off for a shopping spree at Fidenza Village. Bargains were found, money was spent and, after a stop at a food emporium where vast quantities of tortellini, parmesan cheese and parma ham were purchased, we set off home tired but happy to have spent such a pleasant day, excellently organized as usual by Ester.
