Zizeth Maroun | President
Our Benvenuto year is over. A different year, a difficult one but thank God here we are, still together, still looking forward to a new Benvenuto year.
It started with a nice schedule of events and short trips and now it is finishing in a faint, pretty sad way.
On our first aperitif on the Addarella we were forecasting a “crescendo” of enjoyable events but nobody could have figured out apertifs in front of our laptop screens. Who could have predicted it?
Well, the trip to Monaco and then Bolzano and Parma were great hits but our planned visits to Israel, Naples and Mantova remained on the schedule. We missed our dinners and aperitifs, our visits to exhibitions and…..
We could make the mistake of thinking this was an unhappy year but, telling the truth, I do think it was different but with a real positive meaning. Why?
We discovered friendship, resiliency and solidarity.
When obliged to stay inside our homes during the lockdown we tried to keep in touch in different ways: aperitifs, quizzes, photo competitions, meditation sessions, birthday parties, distribution of masks, calls and Whatsapps going around…..
We have used our computers, tablets and smart phones in the widest creative way .
And now I am here to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your ongoing presence, your availability and simply because your are my friends. And again thanks to the ladies from the board so helpful in any situation, a real amazing team.
My lockdown, but I dare saying yours too, would have been much worse without you.
Irmi Muratore | Vice President
Dear Club Benvenuto Members,
This Club year we started with a lot of wonderful ideas and some of them we could realize.
Our Welcome Party was attended by 137 guests and we enjoyed the American Buffet accompanied by the choir. Our trip to Munich was attended by 28 ladies and it was a real challange to organize this trip making it running smoothly.
We have been very lucky with the weather and the group was so amazing.
Christmas Bazaar, Raffle and Party were a great success and I would like to thank all of you for organizing and supporting these events.
Even if the VIRUS has stopped us abruptly, it did not take long for us to act. Zoom Calls, Whats-app Calls, Quizzes and Zoom relax sessions accompanied us through this tough period. Our Benvenuto ladies were active and positive and we helped each other.
Thanks to our president Zizeth the club was provided with masks.
For me personally this year was really special as I was appointed honorary member and as I was your Vice President. Two really signifiant positions.
I would like to thank my board. We have acted according to the motto “TEAM WORK MAKES DREAMS WORK”
Giovanna Meroni Casati | Secretary
Dear friends, during difficult moments as these ones, it’s very important not to be alone.
It’s essential to have the presence of a group and the awareness of having people near you who share the same feelings, concerns and hopes for a better future.
These are the feelings that I had all year long with my friends of the board.
And this sense of unity is very important in a club like ours, in which we have women of different nationalities, cultures and habits.
I wish you all the best for the next holidays, wishing you a safe and serene summer.
I would like to share with you a poem by Kitty O’ Meara, a young American author, written during this pandemic period. See you in September.
And the people stayed home.
And read books, and listened, and rested,
and exercised, and made art, and played games,
and learned new ways of being ,and were still.
And listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed.
And, in absence of people living in ignorant,
dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways,
the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again,
they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images,
and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully,
as they had been healed.
Ester de Giuli | Special Activities Director
our year of events, trips and activities has been suddenly interrupted at the beginning of March, just a few days before the planned visit to the Villa Reale exhibition about Japan.
A few short trips like the one to Mantoa and Genoa, some evening dinners and different exhibition visits have been or, as I hope relocated to the coming year.
